Horseback Riding and Football Games

Wednesday Marisa and I headed out to Darrell and Kathy's for some out on the farm riding. It was so much fun getting to learn how to do everything, brushing down the horses, saddling them up, and riding. I rode on a beautiful black horse named Chester, his coat was very soft! Sometimes it was a little frightening (like when the horse knew he could boss me around when it was supposed to be the other way around).
Darrell took us out in the woods on the little trails they have there and in their field. My rear was quite sore after the ride, and Marisa wasn't sure she'd be able to walk to class the next day, but we survived!

Saturday I went and watched the second half of a friend's football game. They beat them so badly! I'm excited to watch the game this weekend (upcoming Saturday), where they will play against the other undefeated team. Kimberly danced "Thriller" for half-time of another game so we stayed to watch that, it was fun! Here is Stefka, me, and Hannah :)

If He Had Only Known

If He Had Only Known
By: Janelle Cheney

The rain fell heavy and fast from a grey fall sky. The leaves had long since started to fall and were now heaped at the base of the trees in a mushy mess of brown and orange. From the dusty old window pane four homes on Holmes St. were visible, each one in a state of disrepair, evidence of the fallen economic situation. Like the other homes, this one was a small four room house, cozy and comfy for a family of three. With its dark green house paint accented with shutters and doors of white, it was the typical country home of a military man.

Reilly could hear his parents talking in the kitchen.
“I’ll miss you while you’re gone,” his mother whispers, and as Reilly looks up he can see his parents embrace. He quickly looks back to the puzzle he has been half-heartedly working for most of the morning.

It was that time of the year again, where his daddy goes off for two weeks to who knows where and mommy cries and is in a constant pout. Then daddy comes home and mommy is happy again and life continues.

The little boy watched as his daddy kissed his mommy goodbye. It was almost his turn to do the ritual hug and kiss and for some reason he did not understand, tears started to roll down his face. “Don’t cry little man,” his father says as he squats down to be on face level with the six year old. “Let me go with you daddy! Mommy is always so sad when you leave and that makes me sad. Why can’t we just go with you?” Reilly’s hands grappled as he struggled to keep a hold of the best man he had ever known.

Daddy gently wiped the tears from his cheeks, and whispered, “Be a good boy for your mother,” before he enveloped him in a warm embrace. The embrace lasted only seconds before daddy let him go and headed down the walk to the cab that waited for him. “I love you son!” his father shouted as he climbed hastily into the cab, suitcase in hand.

Perhaps if he had only known. Known it would be the last time he would see his parents kiss, the last time he would have the ritual hug and kiss, the last time he father would tell him to be a good little boy. Perhaps if he had only known, he would have shouted with as much love and enthusiasm “I love you dad!”

(We never know what tomorrow will bring. May we all be a little more willing to express the love we have for one another.)

Predictable - Good Charlotte

Something isn't right
I can feel it again, feel it again
This isn't the first time
That you left me waiting
Sad excuses and false hopes high
I saw this coming still I don't know why
I let you in

I knew it all along
You're so predictable
I knew something would go wrong (somethings always wrong)
So you don't have to call
Or say anything at all
So predictable (so predictable)

So take your empty words
Your broken promises
And all the time you stole
Cause I am done with this
I could give it away, give it away
I'm doing everything I should of
And now I'm making a change
I'm living today
I'm giving back what you gave me
I don't need anything

I knew it all along
You're so predictable
I knew something would go wrong (somethings always wrong)
So you don't have to call
Or say anything at all
So predictable (so predictable)

Everywhere I go
everyone i meet
Every time I try to fall in love
They all want to know why I'm so broken?
Why am I so cold?
Why I'm so hard inside?
Why am I scared?
What am I afraid of?
I don't even know
This story's never had an end
I've been waiting
I've been searching
I've been hoping
I've been dreaming you would come back
But I know the ending of this story...
You're never coming back
Never..never..never..[echo].....

I knew it all along
You're so predictable
I knew something would go wrong (somethings always wrong)
So you don't have to call
Or say anything at all
So predictable (so predictable)

Everywhere I go
for the rest of my life
Everyone I love(so predictable)
Everyone I care about
They all wanna know what's wrong with me
i know what it is(so predictable)
what it is, and I'm ending this right NOW!

Shaper of Dreams

There was a certain carpenter who loved his work dearly. The Carpenter slaved endlessly on a work of great worth. He had two pieces of wood from which he would carve figurines. The best he would keep. Thirteen days the carpenter spent on his back porch with a knife and the wood within his grasp. On the thirteenth day the wood slipped from between his fingers, first lodging against the knife for a brief second which caused a deep scar in the wood before falling to the ground. As the carpenter outstretched his arm to stop the fall of his most precious work he lost his balance, fell from his chair and landed hard on the concrete steps which led from his porch to his garden. His whittling knife flew from his fingers and into the lush grass; sticking with a dull thud. Tears rolled down his face as he lay on his back in agony.
Hours later he awoke to the feel of rain drops pelting his face. He opened his eyes to a dark world and realized he was still on the steps of his home with a storm beginning to rage around him. He slowly picked himself up and looked around for his figurine. It lied in the mud covered with knicks and scratches. He tenderly gathered the figurine to him and carried it in with him.
The carpenter worked with all his heart to fix the impurities of his creation. For hours he sanded and whittled away, but many days passed and the progress did not look promising. Each second, each minute of the day he worked on the figurine, he saw the alternate block of wood.
The morning came that the carpenter decided to set aside his old work and begin anew. He was uncertain how to approach the work and pondered upon his dilemma. He did not want the beauty of his past creations to influence his here. He removed the whole lot of his sculptures from within his vantage point, storing the first of his attempts within a special closet on a shelf along with the other of his failed endeavors. He began anew.
The finished product emerged from weeks of struggling for perfection. He could look at it with pride and realize what he had accomplished. Shaped with love and carved with caring hands. This piece of art was created for the soul purpose of giving joy. His dream had been realized.

nothin'

it wasn't the first and it won't be the last when you left me
cryin' there on the steps with my heart in my hands
yet it feels like an eternity
since you whispered words that crushed my plans
time stands still but life moves on

i close my blinds, unplug the phone
don't want nothin' but to be alone
turn out the lights and on the tv
but there's nothin' worthy to see
i start all over again searchin' for somethin' but findin' nothin'

Stone Castle

I'm finding myself lost in my thoughts
A vast emptiness; cold, dark, numb
Incompleteness binds my aching soul to an icy heart
It no longer pumps, no longer bleeds for you,
Instead it builds higher walls with moats
Of unending depths
For no man shall this drawbridge lower again.
