Rappelling

Wow, its been awhile!

Ben took Alyssa, Bryce, Mike, Jed, and I rappelling a few weeks ago! (February 13) It was amazing. I was excited for it but also a little nervous, because unlike rock climbing, you don't have a wall you can hold onto. Its just you and your rope, the bridge and the ground, and all that air in between! I wasn't really the least bit nervous. I climbed right over the bridge rail and then things started to sink in a little. What was I doing?! I wasn't even sure what exactly, but I was glad that Jed was at the bottom holding onto my rope so I could figure things out.. The guys walked me through it and once I was completely free of the bridge it was less nerve-wracking. Ben and I stopped mid-air to just look around at God's creations. It was majestic! We were rappelling in a canyon with trees dotting the side and the river running right under us (ok... to the right a little).

Once reaching the bottom of the canyon and realizing what I had accomplished, I felt such a sense of pride! I can't even explain it, but I just thought, "Man! You can do anything!" (even though its not quite true because if I allow myself to think about somethings too long then I talk myself out of it). Alyssa and Bryce were the next ones down and I could tell she was having as much trouble as I letting go of the bridge!

By the time Ben and I went down again the mist had moved into the valley a little and it was getting very cold very fast. My hands were freezing and the second trip down was not as enjoyable and was almost scarier because of my hands. But I want to go again! It was awesome :) Maybe I would like sky diving...

La vie en rose; Mon amour, mon ami

Its been so long since I have posted anything on here, I feel like a slacker. In my french class we are singing everyday, but not just hymns, we are also doing very popular songs in the french culture. I thought I'd share some with you!

"La Vie En Rose"

Des yeux qui font baisser les miens
(The eyes that lower mine)
Un rire qui se perd sur sa bouche
(a laugh that gets lost on his mouth)
Voila le portrait sans retrouches
(here, the portrait of perfection (without touch up))
De l'homme auquel j'appartient
(The man to which I belong)

Quand il me prand dans ses bras
(When he takes me in his arms)
il me parle tout bas
(he talks to me very low)
Je vois la vie en rose
(I see life through red colored glasses) literally - I see life in rose)
Il me dit des mots d'amour
(he tells me the words of love)
des mots de tous les jour
(the words of all the days)
et ca me fait quelque chose
(and that does something to me)
Il est entre dans mon coeur
(he has entered into my heart)
Il me parle de bonheur
(he speaks to me of happiness)
dont je connais la cause
C'est lui por moi, moi pour lui dans la vie
(it is him for me, me for him in this life)
Il me l'a dit l'a jure pour la vie
(He told me he has sworn for life)
Et des que je l'apercois
(and of this I knew)
Alors je me sens en moi
(and then i feel in me)
Mon coeur qui bat
(my heart beats)

.......

"Mon Amour, Mon Ami"

Toi mon amour, mon ami
(you, my love, my friend)
quand je reve c'est de toi
(when i dream it is of you)
mon amour, mon ami
(my love, my friend)
quand je chante c'est pour toi
(when i sing it is for you)
mon amour, mon ami
(my love, my friend)
je ne peux vivre sans toi
(I cannot live without you)
mon amour, mon ami
(My love, my friend)
et je ne sais pas pourquoi
(and I don't know why)

I haven't met you yet

I'm Not Surprised
Not Everything Lasts
I've Broken My Heart So Many Times,
I Stop Keeping Track.
Talk Myself In
I Talk Myself Out
I Get All Worked Up
And Then I Let Myself Down.

I Tried So Very Hard Not To Loose It
I Came Up With A Million Excuses
I Thought I Thought Of Every Possibility

And I Know Someday That It'll All Turn Out
You'll Make Me Work So We Can Work To Work It Out
And I Promise You Kid That I'll Give So Much More Than I Get
I Just Haven't Met You Yet

Mmmmm ....

I Might Have To Wait
I'll Never Give Up
I Guess It's Half Timing
And The Other Half's Luck
Wherever You Are
Whenever It's Right
You Come Out Of Nowhere And Into My Life

And I Know That We Can Be So Amazing
And Baby Your Love Is Gonna Change Me
And Now I Can See Every Possibility

Mmmmm ......

And Somehow I Know That It Will All Turn Out
And You'll Make Me Work So We Can Work To Work It Out
And I Promise You Kid I'll Give So Much More Than I Get
I Just Haven't Met You Yet

They Say All's Fair
And In Love And War
But I Won't Need To Fight It
We'll Get It Right
And We'll Be United

And I Know That We Can Be So Amazing
And Being In Your Life Is Gonna Change Me
And Now I Can See Every Single Possibility

Mmmm .....

And Someday I Know It'll All Turn Out
And I'll Work To Work It Out
Promise You Kid I'll Give More Than I Get
Than I Get Than I Get Than I Get

Oh You Know It'll All Turn Out
And You'll Make Me Work So We Can Work To Work It Out
And I Promise You Kid To Give So Much More Than I Get
Yeah I Just Haven't Met You Yet

I Just Haven't Met You Yet
Oh Promise You Kid
To Give So Much More Than I Get

I Said Love Love Love Love Love Love Love .....
I Just Haven't Met You Yet
Love Love Love .....
I Just Haven't Met You Yet

Christmas Break 2009

Yay! for vacations right? Yay for seeing family, eating good cooking, getting to fly versus drive, going caroling, seeing tons of friends at church, getting to do a "photo-shoot" and all sorts of good stuff.
I got home on the 23rd, just a few days before Christmas and I was exhausted by the time I made it home. Christmas Eve was the traditional caroling night and we got to visit with some of our favorite people. This was the first Christmas Eve where I had absolutely NO problem falling asleep. Of course I expected to sleep in too since Caidin promised he wouldn't be up before 7:30. Yeah... that was a lie. We were up before 5:30 to go down and see what Santa had left! Alyssa and I were ready to kill him. BUT Christmas was great. I got Settlers of Catan along with a couple expansions for it, Puerto Rico, a heavy duty apron, "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks - which is a very good book, and some more random goodness :)
The dear Carlsons and Timmons came over for Christmas feast and I got in some goooood girl talk. I LOVE girl talk :)
Day after Christmas Tamara and I headed out and did some shopping, and then I got to hang out with Katelynn and Hannah and then some more of the gang trickled in... Yet again, some good girl talk!!
Sunday I spent in the Nursery which was nice and therapeutic since I've been away from my kiddos for so long! It was great to see everyone, as always.
Monday I headed over to downtown Vancouver and got to do a photoshoot with a friend from last summer. I'm sure I'm not the ideal model, but it was fun anyways. Thanks to Brandon for doing that for me!
Tuesday Craigward, Craigo, Craigel Bagel, Alyssa's Craig came to visit. The family went bowling and played games for the afternoon and into the evening. It started snowing like crazy, but luckily the roads were good enough for him to make it home.
Wednesday was the day! I got my wisdom teeth out!i had nightmares all night about peeing myself while i was unconscious and i was super nervous that morning. i think i hit up the bathroom like 5 times before heading out the door.
The doctor talked about all this bad stuff that can happen but isn't likely, told me to watch for dry socket, then we went into surgery.
sat in this chair and they put these things that monitor your heart on your wrists and ankle. then they put laughing gas thing over my nose. Then the doctor put in the IV, asked how my christmas was. i told him. i asked how his was and then i don't remember anything else.
When i woke up I was in a different room holding my dad's hand with gauze packed into my gums.
i came home and slept for a few hours and have been sleeping a ton since then. It HURTS! I got off the Vicoprofen on Thursday and have been on Tylenol and Ibuprofen since then. Usually at the same time...
I'm so hungry but I have to be careful what I eat. Obviously. Applesauce, yogurt, milkshakes, and refried beans isn't the best diet.
I'm so not ready to go back to Rexburg!

SPOILED ROTTEN

I think its time I give a shout out to all those that spoiled me this past week-ish.

Monday we had our ward party and they fed us Olive Garden, HELLO BREADSTICKS and cheesecake...3 pieces...

Wednesday we had our last enrichment get together, it was to be an ugly Christmas sweater party so my boss brought me one to wear... and it was UGGG-LEEEE, white with colored presents and bows, with a turtle neck that had holly leaves. Plus, it was baggy... It was Sexy in Rexy!

Thursday my boss invited me to stay for lunch with the girls. Every Thursday she buys us lunch, but I haven't been there all semester because of school. It was great to join them again. I can't wait until next semester! Thursday night I also went out with Heidi, Tessa, and Georgie to Wingers for a presidency reunion. It was good to catch up with the girl talk. Our waiter had amazing eyes and eyelashes...

Friday night was our work party!!! It was a blast! We did a gift exchange and my girl Megan gave me some cleaning gloves that are pink with flowers and some Giraldi dark chocolate mint filled goodness. hmm... yum! We went to Mountain River Ranch where we took a horse sleigh up to another cabin where they served us a Pork/ Potato/ veggie and lettuce/ roll, with cheesecake for dessert. For entertainment they had the "Not Brothers", it was enjoyable :) Thanks Diane and all of her great staff (Amy, Ariel, Megan, Meya, Sascha, Sheila, & Sherica) for making it a wonderful place to work!
After our work party we were supposed to have our girl night, juice drinking party, but we were all so tired and didn't have any ice, so three beds got moved into the living room and we put on "The Wedding Planner" I only made it about half way through it before falling asleep, but you know, it was still great :)

Saturday Alyssa and I pretty well got all of our Christmas shopping done. I even finished two of my homemade crafts today - Yippee!!! I went to lunch with my french partner, we had some tasty Thai cuisine before working on our skit for Wednesday.
Then - (gotta give credit to Jared, I pretty much copied and pasted what he wrote on his blog here cause I'm a little lazy tonight and didn't want to right it all out :) )

My friend Jared got 2 tickets to go see Collin Raye at the company Christmas party and he asked me to go with him. As we walked in the doors and showed our tickets, they informed us that there were two seats in the front row and were ours if we wanted them... wow! To say the least the concert was amazing, especially since they decided to move the Poinsettias out of our viewing space.
But really, it was freaking awesome.

Jared, you're a sweetheart, thanks for taking me! (even if you did laugh at me singing along and grooving to the music on every song...)

Dang, I'm sooo blessed! And I have been very spoiled this week. Thank You everyone :)

David Archuleta

First off, I want to realize this may make many of you incredibly jealous, others will be disgusted, and some of you may feel nothing.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not some obsessed fan that wore a t-shirt with his face on it stating "Mr. & Mrs. Archuleta", although I did see someone who did. And I believe he is too young for me to have a celebrity crush on, he's very nearly illegal. With that disclaimer out there...

DAVID ARCHULETA'S VOICE IS AMAZING!

I wasn't exactly prepared for all the pre-teens screaming their love for them at the top of their shrill voices. And even though it was cute a somewhat endearing, David really is awkward when he speaks. He's just so obviously a slightly timid 18 year old mormon boy who needs some public speaking coaching. And he definitely looks too young. BUT HIS VOICE! I wasn't prepared for it to sound that amazing live either! I mean, come on, with TV shows and CDs, things can be fudged (and I guess if he was lip syncing, this could be too but how bad would THAT be for publicity?), but LIVE. oh baby!

He sang a song that was partly in French. Unfortunately, due to the screaming girls and him singing so quickly, I didn't understand it :(
He also sang a song in Spanish, and it was sexy!
Yes, I used that word for David Archuleta. But it was!
He may serenade me any day of the week,
as long as I get to forgo the screaming preteens.

But I still like Hugh Jackman, Il Divo, & Josh Groban ;)

My roommate saw him in the temple doing baptisms...
